Why am I being billed (or credited) for shipping costs?

Sometimes what your online customers pay for shipping doesn't quite equal what the shipping costs.

Let us break this down and explain how it all works:
The term shipping difference means the difference in how much the customer pays for shipping versus how much the retailer actually pays when they ship the order to the customer.
Here is an example:
If you set a shipping flat rate of $15, the customer will always pay $15 for shipping. If the amount it actually costs to ship is $18 then the brand (you) will be responsible for covering that $3 difference. Flat Rates can also work in your favor! If it only costs $10 to ship, and you have a $15 flat rate set up, $5 will be credited to the brand. Once a month the shipping differences are reconciled between AccelPay and you, the brand.
We refer to the difference in cost as a shipping difference.

If you are using the AccelPay Cart

You can set up shipping rates through shipping discounts in the AccelPay Portal.
If no discounts are set up, AccelPay pulls the estimated shipping rates from the fulfillling retailer's system and surfaces this to the customer during check-out. This is an estimate, which means that there may still be small differences that incur. Like the flat rate difference, that will be reconciled every month.

If you are using the AccelPay-Shopify-integration
You can set up shipping rates in Shopify under Settings > Shipping and delivery.
If you do want to surface the real-time estimated true shipping cost at checkout, you need to set up the Carrier Service. To do so, follow the steps outlined here.
